JOIN THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY Become an MBFA Member
We are asking you to join others like Maryland State Senator Gwendolyn Britt, John Crestwell, Pastor of the Davis Memorial UU Church, Baltimore NAACP President Marvin "Doc" Cheatham and many more committed Marylanders, and become a founding member of the MBFA.
For the moment, becoming a founding member means signing on to our coalition and thereby being publicly associated with the MBFA and its mission. Eventually the alliance will organize press and public education events, build bridges to the religious establishment, caucus with allies, engage the business community, write op-eds, and testify before the General Assembly if necessary.
The goal of the coalition is to foster dialogue within the African American community on principles of fairness and support for all black families. We will promote a clear distinction between what civil marriage means legally and what spiritual marriage means from a religious perspective. Most importantly, the Maryland Black Family Alliance will promote the general welfare of all black families by encouraging the principles of fairness to empower straight allies to support their LGBT family members and neighbors.
It's Easy to Join...
Just send an email to MBFA Director Elbridge James stating your willingness to become another needed voice in this effort to ensure that all Marylanders are treated equally before the law.
